Carl J. Ulrich Framed Limestone Fish Fossil specimen. Signed lower right, "C.J.U." Dimensions: Site 10 "H x 8.5"W; Frame 14.25"H x 13"W; Weight 5lbs 9oz
This specimen was found in 51 million year old Eocene limestone sediments of the Green River Formation, in SW Wyoming. This slab contains a very nice fish measuring 6 inches. The delicate features are well defined.
"Carl became a world-recognized icon for his uniquely skilled scientific and artistic preparation of fossil fishes from family quarries in the deposits of an ancient Eocene lake in the high plains just west of Kemmerer, Wyoming. During the night of May 12, 2018, Carl Julius Ulrich passed away, peacefully, at home in the old Wyoming town of Fossil."
Excellent piece! Very good pre-owned condition. No flaws to mention. The frame shows a little age/wear.
